Daily Arrival

Our daily school program begins at 9:00 AM We ask that parents make arrangements so children are not dropped off or arrive at school before 8:45 AM.  We cannot supervise children who arrive before 8:30 AM. Teachers/staff arrive at 8:30 AM and are not available before that time.

Absences

If your child is sick, or otherwise absent from school, please call the school nurse on the first day of the absence to report it. The school nurse can be reached at 584-1060. Please be aware that the call in itself does not serve as a legal excuse, and that a written excuse is still necessary by law.

Dismissal

All children are dismissed at 3:30 PM. Students should go home on buses or be picked up promptly at their dismissal time. No student will be allowed to remain at school unless prior arrangements have been made between the child’s teacher and parent. Parents picking students up should arrive as close to dismissal time as possible. Parents arriving early will be asked to wait until dismissal time. Students being picked up will need to be signed our in the elementary office.

Party Invitations

The development of self-esteem and positive peer relationships are an important aspect of our elementary program. Therefore, students are not to hand out invitations to birthday parties, etc. in school unless all children of the same sex in the classroom receive an invitation. This is to avoid hurt feelings of children not invited. As directed by NY State law, to protect the confidentiality of student information, teachers are not allowed to supply lists of student addresses or phone numbers.

Treats

Based upon recommendations from the Genesee County Health Department, the school has a policy that homemade foods may not be served at school. If you wish to send a birthday or party treat with your child, it must be a commercially prepared food item. Please check with your child’s teacher prior to any such occasions so that all necessary planning is completed.

We strongly encourage that parents consider giving their child’s classroom a children’s book to be kept as part of the classroom library in lieu of a food treat. The book reinforces the importance of reading, allows our classroom collections to grow and is a permanent, visible reminder of each child’s birthday celebration that can be shared over and over for years to come.
